Philosophy of AAfH:

The Philosophy of the Anthropological Association for Humankind (AAfH) is founded on a commitment to elevate anthropology as an essential discipline that addresses social inequities, deepens knowledge of human societies, and applies anthropological insights to advance human welfare globally. AAfH operates on several core principles:

  1. Advocacy for Inclusion: AAfH aims to rectify historical marginalization in anthropology by lobbying for its inclusion at all educational levels—from schools to universities—in India and beyond, ensuring broader representation and a solid academic presence.
  2. Promoting Professional Excellence: The Association is dedicated to fostering anthropology as a rigorous, professional discipline that not only enriches our understanding of human nature but also applies this knowledge responsibly to address societal challenges, advocating for its recognition as a valuable qualification by employers.
  3. Uplifting Marginalized Communities: Through ethnographic research, particularly on indigenous and socioeconomically disadvantaged communities in India, AAfH strives to amplify the voices of denotified, nomadic, and semi-nomadic groups, helping them access opportunities for societal integration and development.
  4. Disseminating Knowledge: The Association promotes the advancement of anthropological knowledge through its “International Journal of Anthropological Applications” and its newsletter, disseminating insights and developments across the field.
  5. Establishing a Global Institute: AAfH is committed to founding the International Institute of Anthropological Applications to pioneer anthropological education and research. This institute aims to integrate sub-disciplinary and interdisciplinary perspectives, fostering innovative thinking and rigorous application of anthropological methods.
  6. Supporting Nation-Building Efforts: By applying anthropological insights, AAfH seeks to contribute to nation-building by instilling democratic values, responsible citizenship, and community-oriented virtues that encourage societal well-being and global peace.
  7. Advising Policymakers and Leaders: AAfH aims to influence policy by advising legislators, training leaders, and supporting institutions in building cross-cultural competencies that promote human dignity, peaceful coexistence, and societal progress.
  8. Empowering Students: Through specialized training programs, the Association seeks to develop job- and life-oriented skills among anthropology students, preparing them to lead fulfilling, responsible, and productive lives.
  9. Fostering Professional Dialogues: By organizing conferences, webinars, and dialogues, AAfH promotes the dissemination of cutting-edge anthropological knowledge and solutions to pressing global issues.
  10. Building Global Networks: AAfH values collaboration with national and international associations, strengthening interdisciplinary and cross-cultural exchanges to enhance anthropological knowledge and offer holistic, impactful services to humankind.

Through these guiding principles, AAfH aims to fulfill its mission of advancing anthropology as a transformative discipline that not only deepens our understanding of humanity but also applies this understanding to promote societal resilience, global harmony, and collective well-being.
